Citizens Advice Roundtable

Keir met staff from Citizens Advice Camden and their national CEO, Claire Moriarty, to thank them for their important work. Keir was briefed on the challenges that residents in Camden are facing and the support that they are being given by CAB staff. It was deeply concerning to hear about the impact of the cost-of-living, particularly on rising rent and energy bills.

Keir said:

“More people are seeking support, and its not just people on low incomes. Too many families who are working hard but just can’t make ends meet, are still needing advice. hat is a cruel reflection of 13 years of failure.

“There’s been failure in the economy. We haven’t had any meaningful growth for 13 years and things are continuing to flatline.

“That’s not just a set of statistics, it’s the people that have been described by the frontline advisers. That is human lives impacted.

“It’s not just the economy. The NHS is broken, the criminal justice system is broken. There’s almost nothing that isn’t broken.

“And that’s why many people are asking themselves, am I any better off now than I was 13 years ago when this government came in?

“The resounding answer across the country to that is no. But there is another way – Labour offers change and we will spend every day until the next election showing hard working people that there can be hope.”
